For admission to any programme, the candidate should fulfill the necessary admission requirements for the respective PG programmes, as prescribed by the Pondicherry University. The details are as follows:

2.1 Minimum Academic Qualification

Candidates for admission to the first semester of MCA Degree programme shall be required to have Passed Bachelor of Computer Application / Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent Degree / B.Sc. / B.Com./ B.A. with Mathematics at 10+2 Level or at Graduation Level (with additional bridge Courses as per the norms of the Concerned University), obtained with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the qualifying Examination are eligible.

Master of Computer Applications (MCA), MVIT, BCET, CCET, RGCET,PJPCE

Candidates who have secured 50% of marks(45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) or above in any one of the following or equivalent, are eligible to apply:

(i) Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology / Computer

Applications / Commerce / Corporate Secretary-ship / Economics / Business

Administration (with Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Statistics / Computer

Master of Business Administration (MBA, IEV), PTU

Master of Business Administration (MBA, International Business), PTU

Passed Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration through regular course of study from an AICTE approved institution (or) an examination of any University or Authority approved by the Puducherry Technological University as equivalent thereto, with at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) or equivalent CGPA in the degree examination.

(i) CGPA- Cumulative Grade Point Average.

(ii) For converting the awarded CGPA into equivalent marks, the procedure prescribed and indicated in the mark sheet by the degree awarding University will be followed.

(iii) In case, no such procedure has been prescribed, then the procedure laid down by the PGAC alone, will be followed.

(iv) For M.Sc. course, candidates belonging to SC & ST who have a mere pass in the qualifying examination are eligible.

(v) All the programmes that come under the purview of PGAC are full time programmes.

2.2 Nationality

A Candidate seeking admission through PGAC should be an Indian National. However, French Nationals residing in the UT of Puducherry, who are covered by the terms of the Treaty of Cession shall be treated on par with Indian Nationals, for the purpose of admission to all the courses.

2.3 Age Limit

There is no age limit for M.Tech., MCA, M.Sc., and MBA Programmes.

2.4 Domicile Criteria for UT of Puducherry

A candidate is considered to be a Puducherry resident if he/she is an Indian National and satisfies at least one of the following domicile criteria (Refer Annexure – I for the Format of Certificate):

a) Those candidates or whose parent (either mother or father or both) or Guardian (in the case of children who have lost both the parents) has been residing continuously in this Union territory for at least five years, immediately preceding to the last date of application. Candidates must furnish digitally verified residence certificate issued by the Department of Revenue & Disaster Management, Puducherry.

b) Those who have passed the Degree Examination and for that purpose had undergone academic studies continuously for 5 successive years immediately preceding the qualifying examination (including the year of the qualifying examination) in recognized education institutions (s) located in the U.T. of Puducherry and having their residence in the U.T. of Puducherry for 5 years continuously during that period. Mere stay in places such as residential hostel would not amount to residence.

c) Children whose parents are Central Government Servants, State Government Servants, Defence Personnel, Central Paramilitary Forces, Employees of Public Sector Undertakings wholly or substantially run either by the Central Government or by the U.T. of Puducherry, posted and serving in the U.T. of Puducherry for at least a minimum continuous period of three years, immediately prior to the last date of submission of application.

d) Children of Defence Personnel who were killed or disabled in action and who have declared Puducherry as their hometown.

e) French Nationals residing in the U.T. of Puducherry who are covered by the terms of the “Treaty of Cession” shall be treated on a par with the candidates, provided they produce the prescribed residence certificate issued by the U.T. of Puducherry. Such French Nationals will be required to produce the residence certificate issued by the Department of Revenue Disaster Management, Puducherry, not below the rank of Deputy Tahsildar. In addition they should produce a certificate of registration issued for this purpose from the French consulate, Puducherry.

All the above certificates will be scrutinized first by the committee appointed by the Secretary (Revenue), before the final merit list is prepared. Tahsildars of various Taluks and Revenue Officers will be the members of this committee.

Note: Children of these French Nationals shall not be considered for admission under the quota of non-residents.

2.5 Candidates of Other States and Other UTs

A candidate belonging to Other States and Other UTs, must enclose the self-attested copy of Nationality, Nativity, Community (for SC/ ST Quota only) obtained from the competent authority.
